Position Overview:Â Serve as clients' first line of contact with the Energy department. Respond to phone and in-person requests for assistance and/or information. Perform clerical duties for department as necessary.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Serve as department receptionist, responding to telephone and in-person requests for information. Screen and direct client inquiries to appropriate staff person.
Maintain current knowledge of area services and resources, and provide clients with appropriate information and referral.
Screen clients for program eligibility, maintain and update new client intake schedule.
Provide client assistance obtaining documents to access program services.
Maintain current general knowledge of Energy program guidelines, eligibility requirements and regulations in order to respond to or direct client inquiries appropriately.
Use agency intake and referral process for directing clients to additional services.
Open and sort department mail for distribution to appropriate staff.
Maintain and track photocopier and printing supplies, paper, ink.
Serve as back-up receptionist for main reception.
File daily client applications numerically and alphabetically in designate location.
Perform additional clerical duties, such as preparing mailings, photocopying and file as necessary.
All other duties deemed necessary by the Intake Coordinator or Program Director.
Qualifications:
A High School Diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of one year's experience in human or customer services, or related field.
Ability to understand and communicate complex government guidelines and regulations.
Solid computer skills, including ability to working with customized database, Microsoft Office application (Word, Excel etc…)
Excellent communication, customer service, and interpersonal skills, ability to work in busy office and client service environment.
Ability to lift, push or pull office files, supplies, and equipment up to 10 lbs.
Commitment to and ability to work on behalf of low-income customers.
Bilingual in Spanish, or Cantonese, or Mandarin a plus.
